Testimonials

Veritas Academy has had its doors open to educate Savannah’s children for over 10 years now. With guidance from their parents and teachers, these children have been exposed to God’s classical truths in all academic areas. Certainly all praise and glory goes to Christ, our Lord, for His faithfulness and provision through the years.

The following are responses from Veritas Alumni and a current student.

"What Veritas has meant to me"

Andrew Johnson - 2011 Graduate of Wheaton College, Illinois

I left Veritas Academy as an eighth grader having spent my last four years of schooling there. The impact and instruction that I received there were not evident to me until after I had left. It was not until I arrived at a different school that I realized what phenomenal training I had received at Veritas. While I was adequately prepared in the classroom, it was also the things out of the classroom that made Veritas special. It was the relationships I had with my teachers. It was the small and intimate classroom settings. It was the opportunity to be educated in a Christian context. So for me, Veritas offered an extraordinary opportunity to learn and grow both in and outside the classroom.

Erik Oldfather - Former Student

My three year experience at Veritas Academy was not only beneficial to me as a student but also as a person. As a student, I was pushed to do my best in all aspects of my studies. My classical education taught me to think, speak, and write critically about the world around me. In addition, due to the excellent study skills I acquired while at Veritas, my last three years of high school have been easier for me as a student athlete. Along with this exceptional education, Veritas stressed to me the virtues required for young Christian men in today's society.

The following are excerpts from essays written by two of our current Rhetoric School students.

Another great aspect of Veritas is the unique curriculum. We start out in grammar stage memorizing chapters of the Bible, famous speeches and poems, and other historically significant documents. We also begin studying Latin in 3rd grade. Then in the logic and rhetoric stages, or middle school and high school, the classes we take become really unique. We take Logic which teaches us to organize our thoughts and argue effectively. We also take Rhetoric, which is the art of speaking and writing persuasively. In this class we write and deliver speeches about once every two weeks. We continue our study of Latin up untill 8th grade, and now I am taking French from a women whose husband is actually from France and knows the language like she knows English. However in my opinion the most important class, the class that stands out to me and really makes me love this school, is Theology. We get to study and learn about God and the movement of Christianity and its doctrines throughout the milleniums. We are taught about theology from a man who actually has a masters of divinity. Theology is by far my favorite subject.

To me, the choice is quite obvious for my education: and that is Veritas. I have considered other schools, but no other school offers even close to what Veritas can offer me. They are preparing me not only for college, but for life. Their goal is to bring up Christian kids and send them into the world prepared to practice and defend their faith. That is truly unique and that is why I choose to be at Veritas.

11th Grader

Growing up in the public school system, it was not until my freshman year of high school that I realized I was not in the right place academically or spiritually. I wanted to be challenged and I wanted my studies to be incorporated with my Christian faith. I wanted smaller classes, and I wanted to escape from the tiresome world of popularity over education. I did not have to search long to find a school that offered these things and much more. Veritas Academy was the place for me. Why did I choose Veritas?

Veritas is unlike any other public or private school in Savannah. Instead of gossip, we have class discussions. Instead of arguing, we have intelligent debates, instead of criticizing each other, we admire the gifts and talents God has given to our peers. Our focus is on what is important; things we will benefit from later in life—not the temporary things such as popularity or material possessions. We know what is expected of us as sons and daughters of God and we intend to act according to that knowledge and understanding.
