Veritas Academy Giving Plan

Our plans for Veritas Giving this year are ambitious, yet achievable. In order to share with you the specific areas where more resources are needed, we have established three separate Fundraising objectives:

First, and most imminent, is the need to improve our compensation package for our outstanding teachers. This continuing effort goes a long way toward ensuring our ability to attract and retain the best possible faculty. One effort at accomplishing this goal is the Gryphon Gala, our annual Silent Auction and Dinner, scheduled this year on March 5th, 2010.

Second, as our student population continues to increase, the operational budget must be supplemented adequately to assure we are able to maintain our facilities and equipment in an excellent manner and to continue to grow. For example, we pay to IPC a monthly pro-rata share of the rent and utilities fees for use of our classrooms and administrative rooms. To meet these needs, we have established the Annual Fund which will serve as the place to give direct donations. In addition, the Annual Fund will act as an over-arching Fund to address other needs such as the establishment of a Scholarship Fund which will allow us to assist those in need financially without depleting our already stressed operational revenues.

Third is the Capital Campaign Fund. Our Five-Year Vision calls for a separate building for our Rhetoric School, still located in historic Savannah center, as close as possible to our current location, yet distinct and appropriate to the image of our Classical, Christian roots. Our specific goal for the Capital Campaign will be determined after careful consideration of all it will take to purchase, repair, and properly fit a building for use as our Rhetoric School. This Fund also would allow us to begin to hire the additional faculty necessary to provide the quality education we envision at this highest level of the Classical Trivium.

We already have a 100% commitment from our Board of Directors, our Faculty, and our Staff to contribute financially to fulfill our Five Year Vision. Now it is time to ask our parents and friends to stand with us in this great effort.

So, where do we go from here? Consider the counsel of the Lord as He addressed Solomon right after the building of the temple and the royal palace had been completed:

“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a temple for sacrifices. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among My people, if My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that My Name may be there forever. My eyes and My heart will always be there.” (II Chronicles 7:12-16)

Therefore, as a covenant-based Christian school, where we are all called to be God’s living temples (I Corinthians 6:19), please join us, first, by praying for these needs; and second, by asking the Lord where and how you might continue to support the fundraising of Veritas Academy so that we are enabled to fulfill our vision and mission of being a long-standing witness in this shifting culture to the light and truth of Christ and His kingdom.
